All artwork files
should be compiled and contain all necessary
fonts, images and files pertaining to the
artwork. In many graphics programs there is
commonly found a feature referred to as "collect
for output". This feature stores all of the
pertinent files into a folder that can easily be
emailed as an attachment and will contain
everything that is needed for the file.
In Macromedia Freehand - "Collect for
output" is found in the file menu about half way
down. You need to convert the fonts to curves or
outlines as this allows us to open the files
without any issues regarding fonts. When you do
this the fonts effectively become a graphic
instead of being a letter or number. Do this by
selecting Convert to Paths found under the type
menu usually at the bottom of the menu. Compress
the file using winzip or dropstuff to protect it
in transit.
In Adobe Illustrator - Under file menu
select "SAVE AS" and save as a standard file (.ai).

an issue regarding fonts. When you do this, the
fonts effectively become a graphic instead of

CREATE OUTLINES" found under the type menu
usually at the bottom.
Please note: Adobe Illustrator 8 EPS file
is considered the INDUSTRY STANDARD for
supplying artwork.
In Corel Draw - You should "EXPORT" a
corel document and select Version 8 in the save
as menu found under the file menu at the top of
the page. In addition it is always suggested
that you also save as an .ai file in case there
is compatibility problems with the corel file.
This can be done by selecting File-Save As and
selecting the format menu where you will find
Adobe Illustrator. You need to convert the fonts
to curves or outlines as this allows us to open
the files without any issue regarding fonts.
When you do this, the fonts effectively become a
graphic instead of being a letter or number.
"CONVERT TO CURVES" found under the ARRANGE
menu. Please note: Corel Draw is not the
industry standard. Also, there have been
layering issues with some versions of Corel, so
you must inspect your proof carefully.
Other
Applications - Most Programs have an export
feature or a save as feature that will allow you
to save the file as an EPS or TIFF file. Other
programs that are acceptable include but are not
limited to: Quark Express, Adobe Indesign, Adobe
Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe
Illustrator, Corel Draw, and many other
applications.
Please avoid Powerpoint and word processor type
documents. Microsoft Publisher files are
"NOT ACCEPTABLE" as there currently is no
file conversion utility for this type.
